I Won't Back Down
Greg Walton
Description
2002 Unity Award Winner:
Modern Rock/Alternative Album of the Year
Greg's third album is about taking a stand for your faith, a challenge young Christians face more and more often in our world. A high school teacher on the side, Greg is all too familiar with this. I Won't Back Down offers 11 songs that encourage all the faithful to stand strong in their commitment to Jesus and to stay on the narrow way that leads to the Kingdom of God.
A great song made even better, the title track is Greg's excellent cover of the Tom Petty hit. The album also features nine new Walton originals, Christian rock gems, all.
Although he's a solo artist, Greg wasn't alone on this album. "One of the things I've learned is that you can't build something great without a lot of help. A songwriter's journey never ends and there was a lot of distance I wanted to cover for this project, but I knew I couldn't do it alone." Greg sought the coaching of his long-time manager Greg Menza, Polarboy's band leader Pol Buckingham, producer John Pisciotta and master songwriter Bob Halligan Jr. (Ceili Rain).
Greg also had the help of some guest artists in addition to his touring band: Aaron Smith (drums; The 77's & A Ragamuffin Band), Wade Jaynes (bass, Steve Taylor & Over the Rhine, David Teems (flat pickin'), T.J. Klay (harp) and Robin Welty (BGVs).
The end result is good, edgy rock 'n roll with a great message, making it "John Boy's" strongest work to date.
