Our culture places us in the midst of two extremes: that we are either angelistic beings imprisoned inside of a shameful body, or that we are mere animals who can only be led by the hedonistic "instincts" of our bodies. But God, through the incarnation, death and resurrection of Jesus Christ, has shown us that we are body-soul human beings who reveal the image and likeness of God. In fact, our bodies are SOOOO good, that we are called to offer them as a "sacrifice, holy and pleasing to God" (Romans 12:1). It is in our bodies that we see we are made for union and communion with the Divine, we are made for love, and we are made for life. The body is not merely scientific.
