1. You are blessed, God of Israel, for you have come to your people and set them free. You have raised for us a mighty Savior of the House of David, servant true. 2. You have spoken by the mouths of holy prophets, as you have promised in ages past: you would save us from the hands of all who hate us, from their malice, free at last. 3. Mercy you have promised to our ancestors, remembering always your Covenant. This to Abraham and Sarah you have promised: you would free us from our foes. 4. Free from fear that we may serve in holiness and justice forever within your sight. This my child will be the Most High’s prophet, to prepare for people the Lord’s way. 5. Knowledge of salvation you’ll give to your people, by the forgiveness of all their sins. Mercy comes to us, your loving kindness, as the rising sun on us shines. 6. You will shine on those who dwell in darkness, and on those in the shadow of death. And for ever you will be our Savior and will guide us to the way of peace.
