I had the privilege of playing this song with Bobby Fisher and Janet Sullivan Whitaker at the One Bread, One Cup conference. This song always puts a smile on the faces of those who hear it.

I love this song! Nellie is awesome! I rock out with this song blaring. Filled with the Spirit, my three young boys will run into the room and start dancing with me. Nellie has an awesome voice.

Able is the most awsome uplifting song ever invented. We sing it in chuch all the time and it is so incrediably wonderful! There is nothing like it and it gives me chills every time I stand up there and sing with my choir. It is amazing!

Lyrics

1. He alone is able, able to fulfill
everything I hope for,
keeping in his will.
He will hold me close beside him
even when I fail.
Oh, he alone is able to fulfill.
2. He alone is able, able to forgive
all the times I've fallen,
for I know he lives.
He lives deep within my spirit
where I'm freed from sin.
Oh, he alone is able to forgive.
Refrain
Able, my God is able,
able to set my spirit free.
Looking past my failures,
down into my heart,
he is able to love me.
3. He alone is able, able to restore
lives that have been shattered,
souls that are at war,
hearts that have been broken,
healing them once more.
Oh, he alone is able to restore.
(to Refrain)
4. He alone is able, able to fulfill
everything I hope for,
keeping in his will.
He will hold me close beside him
even when I fail.
Oh, he alone is able to fulfill.
(to Refrain)

"Able, my God is able." I love singing this song because there is such a truth behind it. I recorded this song when I was still singing with the Who Do's and I didn't know who Sarah Hart was at the time but I really dug the song.

There's a story in Mark 9 where a man comes to Jesus asking the Lord to heal his son who was possessed by a "mute spirit." The man tells Jesus that he asked the disciples to heal his son but that they were "unable" to do so. I love this story because when the man asks if Jesus is able to heal him Jesus almost becomes incredulous and reminds him that all things are possible with God.

And so Jesus reminds us today. When I'm at a conference and I feel like I can't learn another song to sing, God is able. When my car breaks down and I don't know how I'm going to get back and forth to work, God is able. When friends and co-workers try to convince me to tell "little white lies" and I can't get them to understand why I won't do it, God is able. When I hear of one more child being hurt and I think I have used up every ounce of compassion in me, God is able. When I'm afraid about tomorrow, God is able.

Our sweet Lord in His goodness looks past our failures and down into our hearts. My prayer is that when He looks in my heart and yours He will see his own holy reflection and set our spirits free.
