Brand New Day

It was spring time and we had a Life Teen retreat for our high school youth the weekend before Palm Sunday. Our shepherd for three years and priestly superhero, Fr. John Dick, had just found out he was becoming pastor of another church. We felt a little lost and unsure about the future without him. We really identified with the apostles. Jesus, their friend and spiritual guide was gone and now what? Their hopes had been dashed and they didn’t know where to go. It became an automatic answer to every question about what we were going to do or how people felt, "It's the Paschal Mystery."
This song somehow really hit the spot with us for the retreat. The whole experience spoke of God's unfailing love and the hope of new beginnings even in darkest times. There is never a point when we go off the map with Jesus, he is always with us and letting us have do-overs. We were challenged to see this as a new adventure; another chance to step out in faith. Everyday is a brand new day and we have nothing to be afraid of because God is walking with us through every trial and every triumph.
