Gathering or Preparation Refrain and Verses
Refrain
Alive in one Spirit, we gather at table,
alive in one Spirit, anointed we serve,
called to be sacrament of the Lord's presence,
light to the nations and salt of the earth.
1. All have been given to drink of the Spirit
so that the gifts of our God may abound,
so that the thirsty may find living water
and the good news of the kingdom
may resound.
2. Sharing the one bread,
we are made one body,
a priestly people to serve the one Lord,
a holy city upon a hilltop,
beacon of hope for the outcast
and the poor.
3. Home for the homeless
and food for the hungry,
justice and dignity for the oppressed:
this is the worship of God's holy people,
this is the feast of the breaking of the bread.
4. Your love, O Lord,
has now drawn us together
that we may offer thanksgiving and praise,
learning again of our call and our mission
to be a sign and a sacrament of your grace.
Sending Forth Refrain and Verses
Refrain
Alive in one Spirit, we go forth in mission,
alive in one Spirit, anointed we serve,
called to be sacrament of the Lord's presence,
light to the nations and salt of the earth.
1. Send us, O Spirit, to give faithful witness
as we fulfill the command of the Lord:
"Go and proclaim
the Good News to the nations,"
freedom to captives, glad tidings to the poor.
2. Send us, O Spirit of mercy and wisdom,
where there is darkness
may we bring your light.
In place of fear, let us build up communion,
welcoming all to the banquet of life.
3. Send us, O Spirit of courage and kindness,
send us to stand by the last and the least.
May we act boldly for all the downtrodden,
building the reign of your justice
and your peace.
4. Send us, O Spirit now poured out among us;
burn in our hearts with the fire of your love.
Make us anew in the image of Jesus,
that we may mirror the goodness of God.
