Now We (Actually) Know Our ABC's:
An Alphabet for Mom

E is for EMPTY

Tonight I am having one of those nights (I call them my "all-in nights"), when I pretty much fall into a lazy puddle on the sofa with my computer and a book after a full morning of work, an afternoon of entertaining five kids, and an evening of homework, dinner, and bedtime woes. Sad-sackedly asking my hubby to bring me a drink; feeling like I can't believe I made it through this day; wondering if BeeAlive Royal Jelly really does work for more energy (I heard it does on the radio).

Then I see those little crudely cut-out drawings on the fridge, the ones of the rainbow turkeys my daughters made by tracing their hands, and I am filled up again, considering how much I love those little girls and how much more I still want — and have — to give them; considering how much fullness there is in being emptied; considering that there will come a day when I wish I felt this empty again; considering how Christ emptied himself — truly, willingly, completely — for the three of us.

E is for ENDLESS

Lord, make me that miraculous vessel . . . the cup that never empties, that endlessly pours out the Love you are. Keep filling me every day with reminders . . . reminders . . . you are, and you love, and you fill and refill me. Only in you I am truly filled.

Every good thing is yours
So overflow . . . overflow . . .
Overflow in me, my Lord,
Overflow in me, my Lord . . .

Cup Runneth Over

My cup runs over.
Surely goodness and mercy shall follow me
All the days of my life,
And I will dwell in the house of the Lord
Forever.
