Eucharist: Source and Summit
I talk to youth and young adults a lot about worship and the liturgy. Spirit & Song understands it's mission as providing for the Church the best contemporary songs for worship: Praise and Worship times, Reconciliation services, worship of the Blessed Sacrament, personal prayer, and above all at the Eucharistic liturgy.
I love the teachings of the Church and I truly enjoy reading documents and teaching others about them. I have been thinking a lot about the phrase "source and summit." The Church describes the Eucharistic liturgy as the source of the Church's work for living and proclaiming the gospel. It is also the place where we direct that work. Our evangelization leads to the Eucharist. Our work for justice leads to the Eucharist. And our worship outside of the Eucharist leads to the Eucharist.
I love what the earliest Christians asked. They didn't ask: "Is it Jesus?" They asked: "Why is it Jesus?" In a previous Spot, I talked about adoration. In the next Spot, I hope to look at that question: "Why is it him?"
