Mother's Day

By Tom Booth

Don't forget your Mom! Either of them! Your earthly mother brought you into the world in a beautiful and sacrificial way. Your heavenly Mother did the same thing. Her "yes" gave birth to Christ and her participation in grace is a great example for us to do the same.

On Mother's Day be sure to sing a song for the Moms, both earthly and heavenly. Of course, the tension is that we have a liturgical feast, Pentecost, and a American tradition, Mother's Day, on the same Sunday. Pentecost, among other things, gave birth to the Church. So there is a connection.

Mothers are always giving life to others, and the Spirit is the giver of life. So celebrate them together with no trouble at all! Sing and pray in the power of the Spirit, and take Mom to breakfast without letting her lift a finger.
